Need a Bespoke Spreadsheet or Dashboard?

Project scopes are the foundation of successful application development and will ensure your project will be completed on time and to budget. All bespoke applications start with a detailed project scoping session and build session.

We'll have an online meeting of 2 to 4 hours where I gain a full understanding of what your application has to do. We'll discuss all your ideas, the inputs needed and we'll list the purpose of each page, table or form to be designed. We'll discover what items (or fields) make up your datasets and whether they can be obtained manually or automatically. We'll then discuss the outputs or reports you'd like to create and what you'd like to see on them.

I'll then go away and work on what you've told me. Sometimes a dashboard with a small amount of supporting data can be completed in the first day together. If it can't, then after the day of work you’ll receive a detailed document containing a summary of every part of the application including descriptions of functionality and features along with mockups of the branded designs and reports still needed. I’ll be able to tell you the timeframe to complete the rest of the project and provide you with a full cost breakdown.

The scope will keep our project on track and focused as the creative work will have already been done, I just need to get on and build anything outstanding.

Here's how it works

Step 1

I will ask you to select a time that works best for you from a calendar you will see after you purchase this product.

Please be sure that you allow enough time to do any prep work needed before the scoping call e.g. for providing sample data, copy and any images that I might need. 

I'll ask you to choose another day in which I'll carry out the full day of work (usually very close to the day of the scoping call) when you'd just need to be available to answer any questions that come up on the day.

Step 2

We'll begin with an online meeting where I'll ask you to take me through your current work process so I can understand where your data comes from, what calculations you need to perform and the output needed. You'll need to be available for around 2 hours (maybe longer) so that I can collect all the information I need to get started. 

Afterwards I’ll start to create the design of your application and provide a first build and report. We will need to be in communication throughout that day by phone or messenger.

Step 3

At the end of our first day together I hope to have made good progress with your application. If it isn't already completed then you’ll receive what's been done plus a detailed document containing a summary of every part of the application including descriptions of functionality and features along with mockups of the branded designs and reports yet to be completed. I’ll be able to tell you the timeframe to complete the work and provide you with a full cost breakdown. 

Typically, most single task applications and dashboards for a small business can be built in one or two days. Cost would increase if there are complex data source connections or multiple different report layouts to create.
